Administrative Staff Jumps into the Yellow Metal
Posted by nahets on January 7, 2008
Our campus, Southern California College of Construction (SCCC), recently held an administrative staff field day where the staff members spent time one on one with the SCCC heavy equipment instructors. Each staff member of the admissions and finance department were able to operate a piece of heavy equipment: excavators, backhoes, skidsteers, loaders, and bulldozers. The staff were instructed just as the students are, adhering to the standards and safety expectations of heavy equipment training at the SCCC. The reason behind the field day was to give our staff members a greater understanding of what goes on at the college. The hands-on experience with the heavy equipment gave our staff a chance to “walk a mile in the shoes” of the students, and also learn more about construction equipment training and operation in general. I am very excited with the experience and am confident that it has given our staff a greater appreciation for the services we provide here, as well as a greater interest in the heavy equipment and construction industry.
